Dear Ministry Partners:

I was attending the Mexican Calvary Chapel (CC) Pastors’, Missionaries’ and Leaders’ conference in Queretaro, Mexico on July 9-11, 2009.  I was meeting a friend for lunch at 1:30 pm at the central bus station so I needed to leave early on the last day of the conference.

A cab driver had just dropped off one conferee at the Orphanage where the conference was being held.  I was told I could use the same cab as this driver had to go back in to town anyway.

My girlfriend and I approached the cab driver to let him know I will need a ride in to town.  As it turns out, one CC pastor from Pacific Hills, CA, his wife and another person had just shared the gospel with this cab driver and had given him a Bible. They told me this cab driver had just prayed to receive Christ.  I extended my hand to this cab driver, Jose, to welcome him to the family of God.  Jose loaded my luggage in his cab and said good-bye to the three people who shared the gospel with him.

One the way to the central bus station, Jose started telling me that he had just had an amazing encounter with “these” people.  He mentioned that he felt like a big load was taken off his shoulders and that suddenly he has peace in his heart that he cannot explain.

I explained to him that Jesus Christ came to die for his sins. I continued saying that Jesus was crucified and rose again on the third day.  I mentioned that since he prayed to receive Christ as his Lord and Savior the Holy Spirit now dwells in him.  The load off his shoulders was most likely the forgiveness of sins that he now has in Christ.  I encouraged him to read his new Bible regularly, to pray every day and to attend the CC Horizon Church in Queretaro.  Meanwhile, I started writing several verses on a sheet of paper for him to read and underline on his Bible.  I wrote 1 John 5:11 & 12, I John 1:9, John 5:24, I Corinthians 10:13 and Proverbs 3:5 & 6.

We arrived early at the central bus station so I took the time to explain to Jose what these verses mean and for him to look them all up.  I emphasized that he has the assurance of salvation, the forgiveness of sins, victory in Christ, eternal life and direction from the Lord.  I could sense Jose was excited and could not wait to start reading his Bible.  I placed my hand on Jose and prayed for him.  I asked the Lord Jesus to help Jose grow in his spiritual life, to protect him from the enemy and for him to attend church regularly.

Jose told me that he knows where the CC Horizon church is in Queretaro and that he would go.  I gave him my contact information in case he has any questions.  I assured him that the folks at CC Horizon in Queretaro would be very happy to help him grow in his spiritual life.  Jose carried my luggage to the door of the central bus station.  I paid him the taxi fare and gave him a hug.

As I waited for my friend at the central bus station, I cannot help but be AMAZED at how God orchestrated these events and what a great privilege I had to water the seed that someone else had sown!  It was no accident that Jose dropped off someone at the conference site, that those folks shared the gospel with him and that I was to be the next passenger in his cab in the afternoon of July 11, 2009.  The Lord already had these Divine appointments for Jose, for the CC folks from CA and for me.

I believe in Divine appointments.  This is the main reason I am back in Mexico.  Pray for me not to miss any one of them!

Thank you for your love, prayers and support.

Sincerely:

Angie Velasco
