June 2007 E-Update

Angie Velasco

Ever since I got back here last February I have been leading a weekly ladies’ Bible study.  We are winding down the year and have four more weeks to go.  I am planning a dinner on our last night where I plan to ask the ladies to share on what the Bible study meant to them and to share how God has shown Himself faithful.  This idea came to me as I thought of a verse in Spanish that I have been memorizing.  “Contaré las grandes cosas que tú Señor has hecho. ¡Proclamaré que solo tú eres justo!” Salmo 71:16 (I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, O Sovereign Lord; I will proclaim your righteousness, yours alone.  Psalm 71:16).

As I look at my notebook where I have been writing down the ladies’ prayer requests every week I can truly say that the Lord has been faithful in answering our prayers.

Here are some of the answers to prayer that we have seen these past few months.

  1. Healing of a niece (28 y.o.) that was diagnosed to have a cerebral tumor.  Back in July 2006 this niece was pronounced terminal and had started experiencing visual problems.  To date, without chemo or surgery, the tumor disappeared and this gal is back in her normal routines.  Praise the Lord!
  2. Provision of a job for one of the gals.  She is no longer part of our study as her job is in Mexico City, but we continue to pray for her.  Jehovah Jireh!
  3. Spiritual growth of two husbands.  Earlier these husbands did not show any interest in spiritual things. Now these husbands are reading their Bibles and attending church.  God is good!
  4. Provision of enough teachers for Sunday School.  My co-leader, Lulu, heads up our Sunday School and we often pray for Sunday School teachers.  She has enough teachers for this year.
  5. Good health for me.  So far, there was only one week this year that I got sick and to date my health has been good.  God heals!

There are many more requests and answers to prayer but I am only able to mention a few due to time and space.  It is interesting to see how over one year, our faith has grown seeing God answer our prayers.  Our relationship with one another is also stronger as we share many personal details in our lives.  What a privilege to help build the church here in Cuernavaca through the lives of these ladies that come regularly to study the Bible every week!

Many of you have asked if I am moving to Chiapas.  I will take a trip to Chiapas this July with a couple that is considering and praying to work with me.  My sending church, Crossroads Community Church, will not allow me to move without a full team.  To date only two of us are sure, so we need at least two more people.  Please continue to pray.

We do have a God that hears our prayers!  I have seen His faithfulness throughout the year.    Thank you for your love, prayers and support.
